Grief, Gravel, & Gumption

Hello my plump pumpkins,

I hope your week is going well, and that you have found many sunny moments to bask in and show off your glow.

I usually like to sit for hours writing to you, scrutinizing every word and then after hitting "publish," I smile thinking about you reading them when you wake up. However, this last week was pretty rough in a myriad of ways, so I'm going to focus less on words and more on imagery. But first, a list. I do love a good list.

Some thoughts for us as we head into the new week:

  • Everyone shows love differently

  • My soft heart is a strength

  • We can get through hard things

  • Grief lives with us forever and we can't control when it visits

  • Some souls aren't ready to join us

  • You will never know the ripples of energy you've created

  • But believe that they are there and make a difference

  • Try harder for you first

  • You are allowed to go into a quiet era

  • You are loved beyond measure

Today I met my longtime co-worker and friend for lunch. He is in town for work and will be departing tomorrow. He took me to his favorite pub, Lamb & Flag, where we drank beer (a tiny half pint for me) and ate Sunday roast. Spending time with him lifted my spirits and I'm grateful that we were able to connect.

After that, I went to the National Portrait Gallery. It was pretty crowded, so I didn't spend too much time walking around. I'll go back when it isn't a rainy Sunday. I did make sure to go see a former co-worker's piece up on the wall in the Herbert Smith Freehills Portrait Award 2024 section, which is an amazing honor just to be nominated. This talented gal's name is Jane Brodie. Her painting is included in the slideshow below, along with a handful of my other favorites.

Additional photos from today have been uploaded to the photo page - check it before you wreck it.

Before I sign off, promise me one thing: Look in the mirror today and tell yourself something that you're proud of doing. I will do the same.

Till next time,

Your WereMack in London

Hello! I am thrilled to my tippy toes that you and Dan got to hang out and have a pint! What a great pic! Thank you so much for sharing those photos of portraits. It felt a little like being there and it's been an age since I sat in front of a fantastic painting. Thank you for always keeping us in your thoughts and goings-about-town. xo Holly
